Technical Analyst

PCI Security Standards Council is looking for a new Technical Analyst to join the team!

PIN Transaction Security (PTS) Approved devices-including Point of Interaction (POI) devices and Hardware Security Modules (HSM)-play a critical role in protecting the confidentiality and integrity of payment data during financial transactions. PCI Recognized Laboratories perform evaluations to determine whether the devices meet the security requirements defined within the PTS Standards.

Reporting to the Director of Solutions Standards, the Technical Analyst will play a key role in the review and assessment of PTS evaluation reports submitted to PCI SSC by the PCI Recognized Labs.

The Technical Analyst will review PTS POI and HSM reports to determine whether the reports are meeting a baseline standard of quality for the device approval. Working remotely, the Technical Analyst will work closely with the PTS Device Standards Managers, lab evaluators, and other lab personnel.

What You Will Be Doing In This Role

  • Review POI and HSM report submissions
  • Analyze reports for quality and adherence to published PCI standards
  • Create and maintain quality tracking reports
  • Attend relevant PCI working group meetings
  • Work closely with PTS Device Standards Managers

Skills and Experience

  • Be familiar with published PTS standards and FAQs
  • Be familiar with POS terminals and devices
  • Familiarity with Operating System functions (e.g., API, drivers, etc.)
  • Knowledge of communication technologies (e.g., WiFi, BLE, etc.)
  • Exposure to cryptographic schemes (e.g., authentication, PKI, key management)
  • Be familiar with software development methods (e.g. DevOps, Agile, etc.)
  • Deep analytical skills enabling comprehension of technical documentation and testing procedures
  • Flexible, proactive, quick to learn and possessing a can-do attitude
  • Able to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision to meet firm deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, can express thoughts clearly, knows how to listen and is able to contribute in a team environment
  • Be familiar with MS Office suite of products
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%

The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) devices and terminals, their functions, and how they are used to secure payments. You will also have a strong technical background and an understanding of device testing and reporting methods.
