The Chief Standards Architect will lead the team responsible for the planning and execution of the company's current and future development, evolution and implementation of approved payment data security standards and related guidance and support activities.  The CSA develops and manages the overarching strategy for creating and releasing standards, oversees the Standards development team in their execution efforts and supports the company in developing threat intelligence and new standards opportunities. This position will have broad planning, oversight and execution responsibilities. This position reports directly to the CTO with a liaison responsibility to the COO for program implementation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the architectural roadmap inclusive of strategy for standards development and deployment.
  • Develop strategies to meet business objectives with existing or emerging technologies, translate business concepts to technical terms.
  • Work on highly complex standards and security related issues with broad technical or strategic implications for the organization.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owners, other Technology groups and software vendors to identify and define solutions for complex, business requirements.
  • Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further Business Goals and keeping in mind reliability, security, flexibility, and cost.
  • Keep abreast of evolving technologies and anticipate technological evolutions that could be leveraged to enhance current architectures.
  • Manage a team of standards architect personnel, understands and communicates company goals and objectives.
  • Provide Architectural leadership and vision for standards development and implementation.
  • Establish architectural and technical standards and processes.
  • Lead solutions architects to develop reference architecture and design standards.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of payments products, services, technologies, innovations, standards and specifications setting bodies; global client business and processing experience a plus.
  • Experience leading and developing a standards management and trade association team.
  • Strong understanding of financial services landscape and regulatory environment.
  • An aptitude to stay ahead of new payment, innovation and standards trends in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.
  • Strategic leader and analytic thinker who challenges status quo, looks for creative solutions and can balance big picture strategy and detailed, flawless execution.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with leadership ability to drive consensus in cross-regional and cross-functional teams and to present complex ideas to multiple levels.
  • Acumen to present complex concepts and solutions to executives and committees.
  • High attention to detail and quality for all work products.
  • History of success with internal and external client facing roles, as well as product management and platform services development.
  • Experience in architecture and design of distributed, highly scalable, highly available systems.
  • Preferred experience with
    • SaaS solutions
    • cloud Services at scale highly available systems
  • Experience with modern development practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of architecture methodologies and modeling.
  • Up to 50% domestic and international travel.
